Tecomate’s Famed La Perla Ranch Produces 14 lbs. 5 oz. TPWD “ShareLunker” Largemouth

Laredo, TX – Toyota ShareLunker entry #559 was picked up at 2:00 a.m. this morning from the famed Tecomate Headquarters, La Perla Ranch, which has been the talk of the bass fishing world the past couple of months.  The behemoth largemouth was caught by Blair Schwarz late yesterday afternoon and weighed soon thereafter on certified scales kept at the ranch.  Sharelunker #553 weighed in at an incredible 14.3 pounds, which equates to 14 pounds 5 ounces, and is the largest ShareLunker caught since 2013.

Blair was working a Jackall squarebill crankbait around a brush pile on what is known as Star Island in La Perla Lake when the massive bass engulfed the lure.  A subsequent call was made to TPWD, and when they arrived in the wee hours of the night, the fish appeared to be healthy and in great condition.

The La Perla lunker is the second submission of the season to Texas Parks and Wildlife’s ShareLunker program. It is not yet known whether the fish is a pure Florida largemouth.  If she is not pure Florida, she will be returned to La Perla Lake as soon as possible.  However, if DNA testing at the San Marcos Fish Hatchery shows that she is pure Florida, she will be held in Athens through the spring so that any fry she produces can be grown and then distributed. A portion of any fry produced will be released into water bodies producing ShareLunkers during the current season. Some will go back to La Perla Ranch, and some will be used for research.

La Perla Ranch is the Ultimate Bass Fishing Destination

Author: Brad Wiegmann
Jonathon-Van-Dam-holding-bass-on-left-sideHow far would you travel to fish for giant largemouth bass? How much farther would you go to fish for giant largemouth that get limited fishing pressure? The answer is whatever distance it is from your house to La Perla Ranch in Texas.

What makes the La Perla Ranch (http://www.laperlaranchresort.com) the ultimate bass fishing destination is the opportunity to catch a 10-pound or bigger largemouth. Not only are there big bass at La Perla Ranch, but they limit the number of anglers able to fish La Perla and Waterworld. Anglers only get to fish these lakes eight days per month and a limit of only two boats allowed on the water at one time.

Fishing a Grand Slam with G.Loomis E6X Rods at La Perla Ranch

Date: 2/11/15
Location: La Perla Ranch
Manufacturer: Shimano/G.Loomis

Introduction: When I got the call a few months back from the Shimano team to check out some new pre-release “gear” ahead of the Classic my interest was already peaked, but when we found out we were heading to Laredo Texas to fish the new products I knew I was in for an experience. When most anglers think about heading to the Laredo area the first thing that comes to mind is probably heading to Lake Falcon which is just under an hour south in Zapata.

As good as Falcon can be at times this was not the destination for our new product preview. Instead Shimano had something else planned for this writer’s event and had partnered with La Perla Ranch, a family owned and operated property.
