David Morris NE Sandhill Hunt
Dec. 1-4, 2011, Sandhills of Nebraska: The Bucks of Tecomate TV Hunt
A stranger place to hunt whitetails I’ve never seen. But they are there … in a place with virtually NO trees, only grass. And, right alongside them you can find their kin, the mule deer. As a hunter, one of the best things about the Nebraska Sandhills is that I can shoot either … indeed, BOTH, if I buy a second license!

Hunting the Dream: The Importance of Taking Kids Hunting
This storybook hunt begins on a mystical foggy morning in the hardwood bottoms and pine hills of Central Mississippi. As nine-year-old Chase and I climbed into our box blind, or what we Mississippi folk call a shooting house, daylight had already started to fill in the Tecomate food plot we were hunting. Yet the visibility was limited to only a few yards because of the dense fog that filled the area. After only ten minutes of the daylight combating the fog, a dark figure appeared at the end of the field.

South Central South Dakota November 2011
For the past several years the middle of November has drawn me away from Dixie into the great state of South Dakota. Myself along with several friends have been travelling up to the Majestic Ranch in Gregory County, South Dakota for some great Whitetail and Mule Deer hunting. Located just west of the Missouri River, the Majestic Ranch is a 13,000 acre cattle ranch and has some of the best whitetail and turkey hunting in the state of SD and in the country for that matter. Randy Odenbach (Odie) who manages all the hunting on the ranch has done a phenomenal job managing the whitetails.

David Morris’ NE Platte River Hunt (November 2011)
Nov. 12-15, 2011, Oshkosh, NE: The Bucks of Tecomate TV Hunt on Nebraska’s North Platt River
I have heard about the giant bucks of Nebraska’s North Platte River for years. This fabled place has always been on my hunting wish list. When Steve Farris called and asked me to join him in mid-November to hunt one of the ranches he owns in the Panhandle, my answer was swift and sure …

David’s Powder River Montana Hunt (November 2011)
Nov. 17-20, 2011, Miles City, MT: The Bucks of Tecomate TV Hunt on Montana’s Powder River
Over the years, I’ve come to have a few favorite places to hunt whitetails. They are not all based on deer size, though some like South Texas and Eastern Colorado do produce giants. Others have good deer, but even more importantly, they are delightful places to hunt and places where old friendships are

Hunt Diary from Priest River, ID
Priest River, ID Hunt – Travel Day 11/13/11
I left Corpus Christi at 7:00 this morning, flew to Dallas, then to Seattle, then to Spokane. My rifle and baggage made it!
I met videographer JJ Slater in Spokane. We then drove across the river to Idaho, arriving at Priest River an hour later around 5:00 pm.
We met host Mike Gabba, my long time hunting, trapping, & fishing buddy since grade school. Mike and Anna gave us a quick tour while we reflected back on nearly 40 years of chasing critters in the great outdoors!

November Heat
The sweat was literally pouring down my face as I closed the distance to my tree stand in the predawn darkness. Despite making the long walk at a slow pace, the 71 degree air temperature and high humidity were none forgiving. By now my socks were soaked and despite walking in with my outerwear strapped to my backpack, my light-ware was now uncomfortably wet. It was unfolding as one of those all too familiar Indian summer “sweat shop” hunts and being the scent freak that I am, I was quite honestly thinking about turning back for the truck. I know this may sound like a September opener scenario but in truth, this was November 14, smack-dab in the middle of the rut. I believe that was the only thing that kept my spirits up and focused on hopefully getting a crack at a great buck.
