on the family’s farm so far this season i’ve encountered as many as 12 does/yearlings per sitting supporting my assumption of a possible 20 overall, three different six points and three or four sizable 2.5-3 year bucks. I mistakenly took a small spiked buck for a doe, that’s it. we have great neighbors that are whitetail enthusiasts too but manage to hunt greater amounts of time than myself. of the approximate eight 2.5-3 year old bucks they’ve already taken off their leased club, one was a buck I had seen.  any suggestions as to what I should do for the herd or the farm to hold these deer or atleast increase my chances of taking a big one?

I would keep food for the deer there year round.  Also do you have water on your property?

i have a few plots established and within a week will begin supplemental feeding by trough. the only water on the property is what runs through the drains and small creek after heavy or elongated rains.

i appreciate any advice and just wanted to show a picture of a few seasons progress. here is a young buck, i believe, roaming our farm this early 2011 season.  any thoughts on its age and management suggestions are welcomed.
