Hello everyone,
Cc: David Morris
My name is Greg Woods. I currently live just west of Charleston, SC and I feel a lot of your pain in that it seems like locating available land in which to hunt has gotten very hard to do. I really enjoy watching The Bucks of Tecomate myself, because one of the objectives David & Jeff speak of on a regular basis is keeping the dream alive; however, sometimes for the safe, experienced hunter and honest Christian that doesn’t own any land or have someone real close to him / her that does, the love of being able to sit out in a stand watching the early morning fog lift and hearing everything from Tree Frogs to Mockin Birds starting to wake up and sound off to a new day is a luxury that’s slipping away. It’s a painful shame, but it’s reality.
One opportunity that’s available to you is to drive down to your local courthouse to see who owns large scale country / farm properties in your general area. Courthouse property records are open to the public. Once you have located some large scale property owners, you have to figure the only thing that can hurt from that point on is being told “No”, but if your approach is professional, honest & open you just may achieve your goal.
IMPORTANT: When you do stop to ask a land owner, be sure to show the individual a great deal of respect. If you have a business card provide them with one. Providing information about yourself is key and a great idea. As a good Christian, you want to gain their friendship and then prove by example you are a person to be trusted. You just may make a new friend and in the process enjoy a great place to hunt. Remember, be kind, open and honest, because a great first impression may just hopefully create a great friendship for years to come. Good luck to you & as David or Jeff would say - “Keep the Dream Alive”! Greg “Woody” Woods
