Has anyone ever attempted to grow lablab plus in the northeast?  I am putting in my first foodplots this year and wondering if this will grow well in MD.  If so, have the dear eaten it at all before the first frost, I’m pretty sure they will go for it after it gets a bit sweeter??
I am attracted to this product because I want more antler growth and mass on my bucks.

Thanks

I hail from the great state of Maryland and yes, Lablab can be grown quite well in our NE climate.  As you may have heard, Lablab is capable of producing massive high protein tonnage per acre.  Lablab is in the same family as soybeans and being from Maryland, you know our deer love soybeans.  However, for first time Lablab growers here in MD, I always recommend mixing Lablab with a cheap variety of soybeans for the first year or two.  This is simply to determine how well your deer take to Lablab.  Some deer take to it slower than others but this can all depend how high the deer density is in your area.  You can simply wean the soybeans from the blend and eventually have a pure stand of Lablab that your deer will look forward to year after year.

As you know, Maryland is drought prone, particularly in late June and July.  Lablab will out perform any other plant once its root system is developed.  Also, Lablab can be planted the first week of May here in our area, just like Soybeans.
