I could tell you here if I knew what part of TX you are in.  South TX has a longer warm season than north TX and there you would plant summer crops earlier in the spring (March - April) than north TX (April - May).  The same is the rule for fall planting but in reverse - you can plant fall crops earlier in the fall (Sept. - Oct.) in north TX than in south TX (Oct. - Nov.).  The Texas Parks and Wildlife website is one good resource for you to browse: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/game_management/deer/
I didn’t find anything specific there on this but still a good resource.

I should have also mentioned that you can go to http://www.tecomateseed.com for this information from the Tecomate Seed Company.

I hunt out in west Texas and can tell you the best source is your local TP&W;wildlife biologist.  Go to Texas Parks and Wildlife.com and you can find you local biologist. Call or email them and they will respond.

They can tell you times and types of seed to plant, and they deal with all of the hunters in your region so they know what does or does not work.
