I live in upstate New York, Three years ago we decide to take bucks only during regular gun season(not archery n muzzle loader) to try and increase the the deer population there. One doe was taken during muzzle loader that year and has been the only one since. First year was take any buck, second year we went 6 point or better, n this year went back to any buck. The number of bucks seen on the property went up to were the five of us who hunt there all took a buck with more still running for next year. 9 different bucks were seen this year. We took 2 really good bucks this year for this area, a 7 point with 12” spread, n a 8 point with 15.5” spread taken on last day of season go me grin, a 6, 5, n 3 were also taken, with a spike, two 4’s, and one huge buck 10 or 12 seen running across a field during archery never to be seen again. But the number of does seen on the property has seem too gone down, before we started hunting bucks only there we seen atleast one everytime we went out not so much anymore.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is?
